Macon Aero Modelers 2009 Mowing Schedule:
This year the schedule starts on May 1st and extends tentatively till Oct. 30th....

All mowing is to be done on the Friday of the week and the date posted reflects this day. If the weather forecast calls for rain on Friday then please mow on Thursday weather permitting. It is very important that the fescue be mowed every week to keep the mulch from piling up and killing the grass.

Also, please try not to throw the cut grass over on the Bermuda runway grass. Mow the first 3 or 4 passes beside the runway blowing the grass toward the fence.

Try not to let the mulch pile up in any areas. The mulch chokes out the fescue and can stunt its growth. Try blowing the cuttings where you have already cut to help prevent this.

You will be required to furnish your own gas to mow. please fill up the tank prior to mowing. everyone should know the combination for the door and if not e-mail me and I will give it to you or ask someone at the field.

Remember to bring refreshments to keep you hydrated. Water is better or power aid but we do have soft drinks in the fridge.

Be careful mowing around objects with the Zero turn radius mower until you are used to it's operation.

You are not required to mow the runway. Only the fescue, which extends from the lower end of the runway up to the main road at the entrance. Mowing of the Runway is taken care of with the reel mower.

No one should be flying while mowing is taking place. You can not hear an airplane (especially those electrics) when you are on the mower. If you do mow while someone is flying please pay extremely close attention as to where the aircraft is at all times. Wait till they land to mow near the runway.
From time to time weed eaters will need to be used to clean up the fence line and around the field structures. We can work this out ahead of time as it becomes necessary.

Very Important: If you have a conflict come up with any of your dates posted here call someone and ask if they don't mind switching with you. Please don't call me, only as a last resort, but remember it has to be mowed. A couple of times is has been skipped over a week and we had to bag up all of the clippings to keep the mulch from killing the grass.

Did I Mention??? Bring a lot of water or "liquid refreshments" when you mow. Dehydration can kill you.

I like to make the schedule up to mid November anticipating a long flying season but we seldom get to fly that long. We will play it by ear as we do every year. I have scheduled 27 weeks. Some peoples names show up twice and some 3 times.

Please Mark Your Calendar so you won't forget your day to mow!!!!!! It will also be posted on the website and at the field.
